what are you seeing and what it means
When
5 Feb 2025
6:30 PM
Location
St. John Armenian Church, 275 Olympia Way, SF
Lon, Perrin, and Roger will be part of a panel to cover 3 short Q&A (what are you seeing and what it means - members issues should be covered as we go into details) followed by rehabbing dead out equipment. There will be three 15 min periods and specific answers to issues. What have you seen, what can you expect and what should you be doing. 1) Some typical issues are "my hive looked great going into October and then suddenly died out" (did not treat for mites until too late, lack of honey/pollen and starved, left supers on too long, lost heat column and got brood chill) why your colony died out (late mite treatment, poor nutrition, not right sizing - heat management), 2) followed by what you need to be checking for to keep them going (feeding, moisture, temp control) 3) finally, what we should anticipate going into Spring (check food supplies, how is the queen laying, watch for drone dev, splits and swarms)
