This special holiday session began with our own Paul Koski explaining how to help your bees survive the season. Though SF doesn't get bitterly cold, we still lose 1/3 or more of colonies every winter. So Paul showed the steps that expert SF beeks take to cut those losses.

For those who missed it, here is the full video of the meeting including Paul's presentation.

Here is the short clip of a hive that Paul shared during his talk.

Other items that were on the agenda:

  • SFBA is now a certified 501(c)3 charity. What does this mean for the club and how does it affect you as a member?
  • What's in the holiday gift packet that is being mailed to members this season in lieu of the usual in-person party (maybe next year!)
  • Update on the de Young Museum project, in which SFBA beekeepers are helping maintain a living beehive as part of a contemporary sculpture
  • Update on the new SFBA membership software that will roll out in 2022
  • Voting for SFBA officers for the coming year
