Dr Tzvetan Popov and Dr. Paul Szyszka presented behavioral and brain research in honey bees. Honey bees are used for crop pollination, honey production and brain research. Bee-brain researchers exploit bees’ exceptional smelling and learning capabilities to investigate how the brain produces perception and cognition. In this talk, Tzvetan (human brain researcher) and Paul (bee brain researcher) 1) stressed the similarities between human and bee brains, 2) showed how bees smell spatially, and 3) showed how the bee brain produces odor perception.

For those who missed it, here is the full video of the event.

Viewer discretion advised: There will be some graphics inside dissected honey bee brains. It's not a zombie movie, but it's brains! You've been warned.
